Finding Funding Sources for Equipment   Many if not most of our customers do not have the resources to purchase the product we sell. They view our catalog and web site as products they would buy if they won the lottery. Let us face the facts; almost no one wins the lottery. So where do you go to find the funds necessary to purchase these products that can run as high as $20,000?   Most people overlook organizations in their own neighborhood. There are numerous civic organizations such as churches, Kiwanis clubs, Jaycees and Lodges that are willing to raise money for people with disabilities to purchase equipment they need or want. There are also a few Federal and numerous State agencies that will pay for all or most of the cost of equipment. In a large percentage of states there is a Medicaid Wavier program to purchase equipment that is usually not covered under Medicaid guidelines. Equipment such as fishing, hunting or exercise equipment are products that improve the quality of your life but are not medically necessary.   In several states there are chapters of Fishing Has No Boundaries that are dedicated to helping people with disabilities go fishing. There are also hundreds if not thousands of grants available for people in need. We have listed some here for your reference. However it is up to you and your friends and family to research and go after these funding sources. No one is going to call you to say they have money to give away if you need something. If there is a product you want that you cannot afford, it is up to you to do the work and make the phone calls or write the letters. You might be surprised how willing people in your own community are to raise money to purchase equipment.
